Yesterday evening, I was in the mood to eat ‘Bhel’ a spicy dish which is usually a snack for evening time made of rice crisps and tomatoes n onions for garnishing with tamarind paste splashes…some what there ;)!
“Craving, not having, is the mother of a reckless giving of oneself.” ~ Erick Hoffer
I suggested my friend to go to ‘Bhavika’- a chat place where you can have all those quick Indian fast food snacks such as Pani-Puri, Dhai Papadi, Ragda Pattice etc..!
We went to this place and we saw a parking so my friend gave a signal and there was another guy who was coming from opposite and as soon he sees us it rushes to park in the spot for which we already gave our indicator signal. Besides that there was another car which was trying to come out of the parking and this guy didn’t even bothered to look at that, probably he was in hurry to park thinking that we will take the parking spot – though the right of way was ours if you go according to the books :D
“It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.” ~Author Unknown
My friend is a quite nice guy I should say as I am not :D…the moment he parked in our indicated spot I pressed the horn and he looks back after parking from his car – with his hand signal he is asking as if – ‘What happened?’
“Nothing is as dangerous as an ignorant friend; a wise enemy is to be preferred.” ~ Jean de La Fontaine
My friend asked him – ‘Didn’t you see the signal?’ while I was already in bad temper I started showing him the signal!
Probably his wife started telling him that its our right of way since we gave the signal as he even gave an ignoring hand signal to his wife and got out of the car.
“It is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in argument.” ~William G. McAdoo
While he was passing us he says to us – ‘Well, I can park where ever I want’. And I guess that was the last straw – I said, ‘sorry you can’t park anywhere but on the designated parking spot and didn’t you see the signal?’ and very ignorant answer – ‘No, I didn’t’ and he walks away!
“Before we work on artificial intelligence why don't we do something about natural stupidity?” ~Steve Polyak
He was behaving as if a rowdy, only to his wife or else my intention was to note his license plate number and report it.
“Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.” ~Albert Einstein
In America people drive as if its there right they forget that it’s a privilege which they should make use of it appropriately! Since I have come to US, am always talking about this rude behavior of drivers on the roads not with me but I often see how they treat other drivers. There is no courtesy, no yield to others; Only in America I have seen road rage and accidents and murders, you will never find a case in Canada at least where someone was killed due to road rage or some kind of revenge unless it is something like a gang related or other matter.
“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”~ Winston Churchill
I was so furious with this desi guy’s attitude that I literally felt like saying that this is the way you drive even on the road?, without paying attention to the signals and lights, in such case his license should be revoked as he is danger to others.
“To be ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of ignorance.” ~A. Bronson Alcott
No wonder why people here talk about some Asian drivers as ignorant – we all are responsible for our mistakes and we give a bad name to the community.
“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr
I have only one message to send across through my post, there is no harm if you did park we are humans sometimes we are talking while parking or listening to something and not paying enough attention but at least when someone points out please reciprocate in appropriate manner. If that guy would have just said – Oh! Am sorry I didn’t see, we would have said that’s okay and we would have parked some other place as we did.
Try to accept at least as that’s the first and last chance to prove your won consciousness.

hmmmmm to parking ka lafda....khalis attitude hai yahan ka khoon se jayega kahan !
Hey.. nice post!
Dawn – I am sure you have an encyclopedia of great quotes. “Stupidity is not a handicap. Park elsewhere!” takes the cake.
And I am equally sure you haven’t driven on streets of India. It is chaotic and somehow yet each driver kind of understands and anticipates the other drivers move and yet skillfully maneuver through the moon carters on road.
Symphony of Chaos… that’s what I call and it is experience to “live” by.
You are so right. some people think they own the road and dont have to follow rules. And as you said its ok to acknowledge that you were wrong or made a mistake.Road rage is very prevelant in California, so I really dont bother with anyone.
People always think they rule the road when they handle the car.Road rage is dangerous and can kill anybody.

gaurav jain: well in that case they are the once who get ticket and often get high points and increase in insurance premium and more or less leading to suspending the license…:D…I think street smartness while driving in India is a must and its an art I appreciate when I see no one got hurt ..though each time I pray to god….and then say …thank god :D!...but then if there are people who follow the rules one mustn’t discourage them :D
Cheers dear
