Sweet childish days, that were as long As twenty days are now. ~William Wordsworth

A short story slam week 37 at Bluebell Books for Happy January...!

Due to global warming everywhere things are upside down.
The seasons have become ill-mannered.  In short, summer in California has turned out to be monsoon season and New York where snow has to embrace the earth, its hot out there.

As I remember my childhood days, summer used to be so soothing. The school summer vacation used to start and mango season – wow! The thought brings back the memories of those days when there was no timetable and no schedules. You wake up when you want to and just plan your own ways how to proceed the day ahead.
There were times when school vacation used to be at granny’s place in Kerala and when we were not going to Kerala, it was at home playing whole day with friends.

Morning till evening I used to play carom board with friends and each time we play it used to improve me as a good player. The goal was to learn best of the best techniques to focus and to aim in such a way that I was able to put the coins in the pockets in a timely ways along with grabbing the queen coin which has more points :).

Such good were those days where internet or video games didn’t keep us away from our friends and family. It was more in person time and I think it increased the bond between friends too, unlikely today where people are more glued with devices.
My dream summer camp used to be to have a small hut, yes not tent but a small hut in the middle of the farm where there is a small river flowing with fresh water and sun shining its love on us and at night the soothing moonlight that plays music to the tune of the breeze across coming from the farm. When hungry pick the vegetables from the farm and cook it and eat it with friends.

Those were the dreams which I think I can still dream about because its not summer anymore in California …and the short story slam week at Bluebell readers can enjoy this dream that I am sharing here with you all..!

One thing I did this new year is, introduced carom board game to my kids. My little one was eager to learn the game and the concept of family sitting together and playing the game made me so happy that the long weekend went playing carom board. My son loved the concept of family coming together…am glad he understands even in this era of technology! Happy January !!!

Promises are to be broken..!

He promised long time back
And he was caught many times
Even now he promises
He breaks it yet tells the truth
Each time he quits
Each time he promises
Each time he tells the truth
Yet he forgets that he lies
To himself when he promises
And the world remains known for
Promises are to be broken!

Where there is love there is life....

Love is such a complicated word if you look at it because as it has a binding factor in it, it does have the unbinding peace attached to it.
That sentence above itself sounds complicated isn’t it?

Well, I have a story to tell today specially when its a ‘short story slam week’ at BlueBells.

Ruby was a loving personality, basically an independent, free-thinker and full of life. Anyone would love to be her friend, yes when I say anyone it means anyone irrespective of gender, age and even animals would love to be near this person.
Love is contagious, isn’t it? That’s how exactly it was. Ruby’s warm and friendly nature attracted many and many would be her friends too. In such a time she met someone and this friendship turned into love. I am sure with Ruby’s friendly nature and caring lead this person to be in love because this person never received that from anyone, not even the so called close ones, that’s how he told to Ruby always.
Ruby already being in a relationship didn’t even realize that this friendship has caused her to have an extra marital affair. At one point she felt that all she is doing is loving and not killing anyone. These kinds of hypothetical thoughts didn’t made her feel that what she was doing is unfair to the other person with whom she has a relationship whom she loves the same.
I am not sure so far if my readers are with me, if yes then what are you thinking about Ruby?
If you look at from Ruby’s point of view she is only loving and giving a hope and confidence to other person even though the relationship has progressed exactly like the one she has.
Tough one, love indeed is tough and difficult to manage when you think love as food, things, place and money. You can’t share these things and you can only give to one unless this love is motherly love like many wife’s say to their husband also :) and sisterly love or so forth.
Time came when Ruby and her friend’s love came out with their respective partners and it was not appreciated by anyone and I guess by now Ruby and her friend also realized that the love is true and fact is that it has no place here and hence they had to part.
It was love that brought them together and it was love that parted. Ruby went back to her family. Ruby is a loving soul and wanted to give peace and was ready to go far away but even though her loved ones were hurt they all embraced her with the hope to give and get a life for all.
Ruby’s friend, probably he lost everything in love. He just vanished in no time and then couldn’t figure out what happened to him.

Looking at Ruby’s love story, all I feel is love is very powerful and love can make anything happen in this world. Its the love that Ruby gave to her family that they embraced her back as they all love Ruby.
Even though Ruby lost the friend for the love she shared, her friend saw a new life and new learning which will keep him going for long.
Love can be soothing, comforting, encouraging, teaching lessons, bring strength and happiness yet love can teach you a lesson which will be with you for life long.
Try to love instead of anger it changes the perspective of life and living beings.

Yes, I am caged with boundaries to fly

I am caged and they say I am free
I bear it for loved ones sake
I bear with the hope things will change
I fear loved ones will suffer
I fear not to trouble others
They say am goddess yet no power
They say am the root for giving life
But, Truth is am caged
In the name of love, in the name of emotions
I am caged!
They saw the way I took off flying high
It made them to fall in love with thy
Caught and caged me, only to see me sly
I care, I worry and so I relay hoping for dawn
Yes, I am caged with boundaries to fly
I am caged yet they want me to smile!!

Hit the ball hard so it bounce back fast and harder...!!!

Life is simple sometimes we make it complicated. I remember writing these lines in one of my blog post long time ago.

Indeed, life is simple but human mind is very complicated and so does one make the life too.
Things happen for a reason, sometimes you think you are helping but then one need not be helping to all those who need help!

Yes, everyone has their cup of tea to drink and I should also focus on my cup. There might be many who wants to drink from that cup but we shouldn't change our focus in offering that cup.

I did and didn't figure out until I was caught that I gave the cup.
Many times you have to be caught to make realize that mistake.

The first thing is to accept that you did it and then you process it. There is suffering and pain that you will go through as part of healing. How fast you get out is individual based.

I am here to rise back... with full force by killing all fears and be that support to life and those who are my loved ones.
When the world is your loved ones, it doesn't matter beyond that who it is. Because the loved ones are the only one who cares for you and helps to heal it.

I am here to heal and Dawn will rise...!

Day of the dead!!!

Been the source of life
Friend too to all
One day came and
It wrecked it so bad
That moment came in
Where earth had to spilt
Yet It didn't to my wonder
At times one need to be caught
To realize a mistake
That breaks everything
Hearts, relations and emotions!!

Halloween Nursery Rhyme ;)

Everyone was rushing from one place to the other
Not in a mood to talk or explain any further
Looking at the hustle bustle I wonder
Hours and hours spent on the border
Looking as who's coming and who's little later
It made me worry even if someone says - don't bother!
I kept running here and there looking for ladder
I finally managed to hide under the cloth to look like a feather
When I saw they were not the same either
I got scared and removed my feather
And they still in their costume bringing terror
Until they screamed "Happy Halloween" it brought in thunder
I wonder and wonder why they were rushing from one place to the other!!!!
