We could never have loved the earth so well if we had had no childhood in it

Today I am going to talk about childhood as I believe childhood is the foundation of well being and learning of any human being.

We talk about so many issues that people have and if you look at it many relates to their childhood and it has left such an impact that they can never recover from it - it could be good and it could be not so good.

Children's early experiences, the bonds they form with their parents and their first learning experiences, all these deeply impact the future emotional, physical and social development.

The best investment that we can make as a society in ensuring a successful future is by optimizing the early years of children's lives.

"Childhood is the best of all the seasons of life, and the longer it lasts with happy memories, the stronger the emotional stability in adulthood." ~ Venugopal Acharya

Based on this if you think of the kids who were abandoned by their parents, or they were abused by someone they trusted or the kids who's parents died in an accident and they are living in an orphanage where they are ill-treated by their guardians - what kind of future will these kids have even if they study and work hard to get to a better place in society?

There are scientific evidence that significant mental health problems can and do occur in young children. But diagnosis in early childhood is more difficult than in adulthood.

This is crucial as its not about one child or my child or your child. Any child who has gone through a toxic stressful life can suffer from so many mental health issues and this can turn this child into a monster or a victim of torture.

"We could never have loved the earth so well if we had had no childhood in it." ~ George Eliot

As a society we have a responsibility towards children where we can deal with kids in much compassionate manner. Love can treat any wound and all it needs is nurture and care.

I have met so many adults who have gone through so many issues as a child, sometimes their parents are abusive, and as a victim they have learned to be an obedient slave to them. Some kids due to abandonment issue turn to be clinging to their guardians or their friends or someone with whom they are in relationship because they are scared of abandonment and to not repeat the same- they surrender themselves to the toxic stressful life.

When I hear and see all this, it pains my heart. How can we help such kids who have had such miserable childhood?

"Childhood means simplicity. Look at the world with child's eye - it is very beautiful." ~ Kailash Satyarthi
