“A book has but one vioce, but it does not instruct everyone alike.”

How to pass time? There are so many good things to do in life… isn’t it? Look at the pot in which last summer I bought a plant which had a yellow flower with two little buds and later by winter I see they are not only dead but the pot was all dried up and even the sand was dried as if nothing to offer to give a life to the plant. These flowers with the vase was a gift from my friend :D

“Gardening is the art that uses flowers and plants as paint, and the soil and sky as canvas” ~ Elizabeth Murray

And guess what, this morning when I see the pot which was empty all these days has few green leaves :D…past couple of weeks rains have given this life…I loved the life growing in my arms as the days pass it gives new innovative ways to smile!!

“How beautiful is youth! how bright it gleams with its illusions, aspirations, dreams! Book of Beginnings, Story without End, Each maid a heroine, and each man a friend!” ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Well, besides cherishing bringing the new life into this world, I had the opportunity to watch Blood Diamond and let me tell you I sincerely feel that Leo should have got the Oscar…as his work is indeed marvelous in this!!! Besides the actor, the movie is well taken and I will say if you have not seen then please do so!!! Africa is beautiful :D

“The role of the artist I now understood as that of revealing through the world-surfaces the implicit forms of the soul, and the great agent to assist the artist was the myth.” ~ Joseph Campbell

And guess what, last time I had added a post about Paulo Cohelo’s “The Zahir” which one of my fan friend suggested to read and since then I was trying to find but was unable to get one!

“I want to give the audience a hint of a scene. No more than that. Give them too much and they won't contribute anything themselves. Give them just a suggestion and you get them working with you. That's what gives the theater meaning: when it becomes a social act.” ~ Orson Welles

However, I got this book as a birthday gift ;) and was only able to finish reading it now! My friend had told me to read this as he finds the story is that of a similar girl like me …. lol :D

It’s a good book which speaks about life and our expectations and the illusions that usually we humans go through.

“You cannot open a book without learning something.” ~ Confucius

On to another book "The Nudist On The Late Shift" by PO Bronson; courtesy my friend Bombayite ;) Thanks Sethu mone!!!

This quote is dedicated to all my three friends above I mentioned ;) and to the ones whom I have found here :D

“To have a good friend is one of the highest delights in life; to be a good friend is one of the noblest and most difficult undertakings.”

“Life, like all other games, becomes fun when one realizes that it's just a game”

After looking at India’s performance in the World Cup, I didn’t feel like watching much of the cricket anymore! Well, just to take an out break from it, I had an opportunity to watch “Hattrick” movie!

There might be critics who will thrash this movie but I kind of found a true essence to find happiness in one’s life. This movie if you want, watch it without giving much tension to your brain ;) yup that’s what I would suggest.

“I believe that we are solely responsible for our choices, and we have to accept the consequences of every deed, word, and thought throughout our lifetime.” ~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

With a light heart and mind and a bit of humor sense…yup that’s what I would suggest! Even the songs are not much of importance but they do add there own flavors to it! I liked Nana Patekar and Danny’s role! Danny still looks so young and healthy. I always liked this actor , and its always good to see him. Paresh Rawal I think one can see how well he can act but he is spoiling his career by being in Priyadarshan’s movies playing same character one after the other! I feel sorry for this actor, whom I personally know very well :D

“There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.” ~ Denis Waitley

So the essence of this movie is live happily to die rather than slog and cry to live a life.

Did I make that clear??? Basically, it shows three different life’s of people in different situation but they all forget the one fact that in life we must try to be happy with what we have and live a life happily rather than struggling, crying, and complaining – making the life miserable to even live for others.

“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life” ~ Albert Camus

So moral is live life king size as no matter what we all have to die one day so why not with the happiness and a bit of spirit ;) ! Yes, in this cricket is added as a spice in the curry ;)

“I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve” ~ Albert Schweitzer

Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after

Communication – how important it is to make rather how important it is to make one understand?

I sometimes wonder communicating to someone with eye contact is only not sufficient as you want to know the person really understands what you are saying?

“Even if you do learn to speak correct English, whom are you going to speak it to?” ~ Clarence Darrow

Many times even two people with same temperament but miss the part of understanding as they often feel the person is throwing allegations and how does the person communicate where he/she should be able to communicate the mere fact and not that its an allegation but a notion or a statement that needs to be done!

“People say conversation is a lost art; how often I have wished it were” ~ Edward R. Murrow

Many times the mind’s temperament is also a big cause in misunderstanding or misinterpreting! You hate when you see you are talking and someone is just not paying attention, and still they show as if they are listening to you :D

“When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen” ~ Ernest Hemingway

There are so many aspects to this communication and when you don’t communicate thinking its better to be calm and silent as silence is golden, you get dinked on that one too :D

“The problem with communication ... is the illusion that it has been accomplished” ~ George Bernard Shaw

Can anyone tell me if they have gone through something like this and if so what’s there best suggestion to get out of it successfully?

“The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously” ~ Hubert H. Humphrey

Its about healthy communication and not silence ;)

“Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing” ~ Rollo May

“Everyone has a talent. What is rare is the courage to nurture it in solitude and to follow the talent to the dark places where it leads.”

“Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver.” ~ Barbara Se Angelis

Mother Nature has given so many reasons in life to be happy and of all we forget to cherish them and enjoy and celebrate the moments

“There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.” ~Mohandas K. Gandhi

If we look around …we don’t have to even think of evil about anyone! But do we do that? Do we carry that heart which can cherish these good things in life and be thankful to Mother Nature for giving us the moment to be in where we are now?

“If you nurture your mind, body, and spirit, your time will expand. You will gain a new perspective that will allow you to accomplish much more.” ~ Brian Koslow

I am trying to remind the hidden beauty within us and our surroundings and let this be the beginning of spring where the thought of love, care, nurture be sprung through out!

“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” ~ Allan K Chalmers

“Motherhood has a very humanizing effect. Everything gets reduced to essentials.”

“The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him.” ~ Pablo Casals

“Art is the child of Nature; yes, her darling child, in whom we trace the features of the mother's face, her aspect and her attitude.” ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Every Woman Should Feel Proud Not Only Today But Always, It's Our Right :)

International Women's Day (8th March) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world. This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday. When women on all continents, often divided by national boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences, come together to celebrate their Day, they can look back to a tradition that represents at least nine decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace and development.

“A woman is like a tea bag, you can not tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water” ~ Nancy Regan

International Women's Day is the story of ordinary women as makers of history; it is rooted in the centuries-old struggle of women to participate in society on an equal footing with men. In ancient Greece, Lysistrata initiated a sexual strike against men in order to end war; during the French Revolution, Parisian women calling for "liberty, equality, fraternity" marched on Versailles to demand women's suffrage.

“Women need real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out how much of ourselves we give away.” ~ Barbara De Angelis

The idea of an International Women's Day first arose at the turn of the century, which in the industrialized world was a period of expansion and turbulence, booming population growth and radical ideologies.

“A free race cannot be born of slave mothers.” ~ Margaret Sanger

Okay enough about the history…but this day motivates me a lot not just because I am a woman too, but because I am also on a mission today so let me go and enjoy my moments!

“When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.” ~ W. Clement Stone

Mean while I would like to congratulate all the Women out there around the world who are doing a great job by touching everyone’s heart everyday by being a daughter, girl friend, wife, mother, daughter-in law, grand ma and the best is being a friend :D

“The loneliest woman in the world is a woman without a close woman friend.” ~ George Santayana

Happy International Women’s Day To All

This post is a result of one of my blogger friend who asked to write on heroic act that you did and I think it’s a good day to keep that promise to my friend blogger :D as today is International Women’s day !!!

It was during my struggle period in a new country like Canada where I had to opt for a part time job as a cashier! I was pretty new to the country and to the people too!

It was one of the weekends when there’s lot of tourist visit at the food court and cash was piling up! Usually the moment we see its filling up the cash register tray we quickly grab them and put it in an envelope and as time and chance applies we hand over to the manager. That day, I had already handed over 6-7 envelopes to the manager and still it was heavy flow of cash in my cash register tray!

There came a moment when I was getting a change someone’s hand came in to the cash register tray and grabbed the whole cash and started walking! I, when saw this quickly grabbed his hand which was full of cash and it such happened that he was facing front and his hand was twisted back in my hand as I was trying to get the money out of his hand. He was a 6 ft 5 inches black guy ( not to discriminate but to mention the comparison of the body built). He was constantly murmuring saying leave me ..leave me and I was yelling for the manager ‘Peter’ ….’Peter’ and when I didn’t get any response for 10-15 minutes I just turned back and looked back and what I see is – Everyone in the mall , the huge crowd has surrounded and were watching this stunt but none of them had guts to come out and rescue me or my money or even give a hand of help so that we could take the guy to the cops!

When I saw such a cold blooded crowd, I just gave up …I took whatever money came in my hand and I told him…yeah man! Go…its your day!

And I released him!!!!!

Later, the cops came and told me that was a daredevil act no one ever would take that kind of step. Next time watch out you doesn’t risk your life as he could have shot you with the other hand which was free all this time of your struggle!

I learnt my lesson, no matter what happens just don’t do any thing but call 911 :D

But I always felt one thing, if it was country like India definitely the public would have reacted and would have helped and I think that’s the right way of community help and support!

Thanks to MM for giving me an opportunity to share this story of mine here :D

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words

I have often mentioned about my favorite poet Gulzar, however I never added his songs on my radio blog and I kind a always felt guilty about it!!!

Today I dedicate this post and my radio blog to Gulzar.

“Dedication is not what others expect of you, it is what you can give to others.”

Saampooran Singh Kalra, better known by the pen name of Gulzar, is a poet above all things. His style marks a sensitivity that is best reflected through his writing and treatment of films. He is one of those sensitive people whose work is laced with the lyrical but psychologically adept examination of human sensibilities.

“The person who makes a success of living is the one who sees his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication.”

Gulzar has been honoured time and again for his work. This includes winning the National Award thrice - Best Screenplay for Koshish, Best Director for Mausam and Best Lyricist for Ijaazat. He has also won the Filmfare Award a number of times. Gulzar is also the author of books on poetry, a book of short stories and a dozen books for children. A story book for children Ekta received an award from the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) in 1989.

“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.” ~ Vince Lombardi

I have added songs from the movies Ghar & Ijaazat. Gulzar’s poetry is something which one can only feel if they dive into the wordings …I wish I could help my non-hindi speaking friends understand these :D, but hope music lovers will enjoy it anyway ;)

“Words make you think a thought. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song makes you feel a thought.” ~ E.Y. Harburg

“Laughter without a tinge of philosophy is but a sneeze of humor. Genuine humor is replete with wisdom.”

Its like the first love bite :D…that you don’t realize you got one and you suffer until someone points out to you :D

Yes friends, so far I was so proud of myself when anyone asked me if am allergic to anything and I remember to tease one of my office colleague I used to say yes I am allergic to Prunes.

“No one can possibly know what is about to happen: it is happening, each time, for the first time, for the only time.” ~ James Arthur Baldwin

Past couple of days I was sneezing and sniffing, my eyes were watery and my stuffy nose didn’t allow me to sleep well and guess what today the doctor said its allergy nothing else :D

“He's a new friend at a sneeze; the most you can get of him is a God bless you”

Gosh! I am also caught in the midst of it and they say ~ Welcome to California :D

I was sad a bit for a while but I felt good that at least I know what it is and I have the remedy for it ;)

So I guess I should go with the saying ~ Don’t worry be happy ;)

“When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies” ~ James Matthew Barrie

“A Picture of many colors proclaims images of many Thoughts.”

Today is Holi – the festival of colors and now a days it has only remained in Greeting cards and memories!

Memory is a child walking along a seashore. You never can tell what small pebble it will pick up and store away among its treasured things.” ~Pierce Harris

I remember, as kid I used to look forward for this day. We used to dress-up for this day so that even if the colors don’t go off it was okay!

Deepu my childhood friend used to come home to invite me and we used to run to his place where every year his father was able to throw the water balloon on me! No idea but he was smart enough to hide and throw it through the bedroom window! His mom, who is a shy lady was never shy at that time and she used to have her hidden tricks to make me drenched in the water color.

“We do not remember days; we remember moments.” ~Cesare Pavese

There used to be lots of snacks and sweets and we all used to just rush on it and after that Deepu and along with his two sisters we used to have fun till noon!

“I have played hell somewhat with the truthfulness of the colors” ~ Vincent van Gogh

Holi is a moment when people go to any extent to play from decent colors to dirty games and Deepu always used to protect me from such incidents!

Deepu, a childhood friend who later became my classmate till we were in 12th grade! And all those years our routine about playing Holi was never changed. I guess it has not changed even in my mind though there are so many changes now in the ritual and celebration of this festival!

Happy Holi to all and I spend my holi by remembering my childhood memories with Deepu and his family :D!

“Fly free and happy beyond birthdays and across forever, and we'll meet now and then when we wish, in the midst of the one celebration that never can end.” ~ Richard Bach

I miss you Deepu!

“It is by chance that we met, by choice that we became friends.”

“You meet people who forget you. You forget people you meet. But sometimes you meet those people you can't forget. Those are your 'friends.'”

Exactly what it happened yesterday evening, when a friend dropped in with some goodies :D except that we were not silent :D

We were talking so much and to be frank I have realized many times personally this …when I meet a person, sometimes its just that ‘click’ that takes place without even you realizing and you feel as if you have known each other for years!

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one”

It was a nice feeling after moving from Canada to US, which was a big change however to go through it by leaving all your friends and achievements was a bit painful even though this move was also a re-union and I couldn’t have asked for anything better than this :D!

“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”

Its very difficult and at the same time important too to find friends where you wavelengths too match! As usually you don’t get those vibes where you get the sense of security, love and sincerity in the friendship!

“Even though we've changed and we're all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we'll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we're not all still friends.”

My evening was a nice one :D…Thanks to you dear for everything!
