“You wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down.”

Today was indeed a special day in my life. In the beginning when I was going for a birthday party event, my thoughts were that I will be meeting many new people from Bay Area.

When I reached at the event and heard the stories from these women who had gathered to wish the birthday girl, I was totally amazed and it took me to think.

Who says women is weak? Who? I rather witnessed today the power and courage that these women have and they are real. Women can move the mountains if they have the confidence and those who don't have the confidence its not about their weakness… in fact its the values and mythological aspects that they have been forced upon when they are born.

Girls should be like this… an ideological figure they have made in Ramayana and every girl who is born has to be like Sita (bear all the pains, sacrifice your life for your husband and after all still if husband treats you bad or doubts on your sincerity then he is right) :-) Yes, when the foundation is laid out like this, how can any women build a castle of hers with free of thoughts and courage?

"There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." ~ Anais Nin

I believe every woman if decides she can be worse than the Shiva's third eye (Shiva is often depicted with a third eye, with which he burned Desire to ashes - called "Tryambakam" in Sanskrit).

It's just that don't test her patience because she is patient, loving, caring which makes her first a human to care and respond accordingly. But some people take advantage of this and when the patience breaks even the people gets shattered to see that person in that same women.

I remember reading this poetry in grade 7th written by Indian poet: Maithili Sharan Gupt

"abla nari teri yehi kahani, aanchal mein hai dudh aur ankhon mein pani!!"

(Women is considered as the weaker sex even though, yet she is a mother and a sister too - here motherhood and sisterhood - more of love and sympathy that women carries in her eyes is what depicted).

I mean this was written somewhere in 1800s and when you look at it in this 25th century what has changed? I think a women's patience and sacrifice is taken as her weakness and hence people try to hurt her more.

I think every individual MUST have a purpose in life irrespective of what is her role (daughter, sister, girlfriend, wife, mother, mother-in law, grandmother). When individuals have their purpose in life then they know how to fulfill that purpose in life. They will make sure whats so ever problems come in their way it will be taken as a challenge and they will make it through their way.

The mistake that we do is - we don't speak about how we felt or feel about something that someone must have said or done to us. If you express about the hurt or disrespect behavior then the person should not repeat and if they do then we should stand up for ourselves and for our self-respect.

I am a true believer, that you come in this world alone and you leave this world alone too. Whom you meet and be around with as family and friends are part of your journey while you are here. So, for anything that goes wrong with me, I need to be responsible of it completely. I am the one who must know where it hurts and how to take care of it. No other individual can make decision for you because every individual is different in their own way.

Todays women is powerful and can bring that change in this world to make it a better place - a place where one can live with happiness and without any indifferences of religion, caste, color or creed.

I would like to end this post by sharing few lines from the poem Shakti aur Kshama (Strength and Mercy) written by an India poet: Ramdhari Singh Dinkar:

"Atyachar sahan karne ka, Kufal yahi hota hai
Paurush ka aatank manuj, Komal hokar khota hai"

(This is the consequence, Of tolerating atrocities, The awe of machismo is lost, When one's gentle and kindly)

Change can only come when WE make that decision… it will never happen automatically - Wake Up! Stand Up! You also have the right to live freely :-)

In the role of mother and teacher women can bring a lot of change in the world for sure. No man is born or raised up without a mother except those left orphan later, her influence is most in one’s life.
