“Faith is love taking the form of aspiration.”

As I had said one of the facts below is watching movies..!!! Today I am going to talk about the movie "Mammo",Mammo is a nickname given to Mehmooda Begum .

I know this is not a new movie...but we as leaving in this part of the world...are not so previleged to get to see all the movies...I am a great fan of Shyam Benegal - a guy who has always made movies...out of some inspiration or some message for people...I dont think he ever made movie to make money...its a different thing people do have to make a living out of it :)

"Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”

I had heard about this "Mammo" & Shyam Benegal, himself was praising the main character of this movie - Farida Jalal... Since then am in search of it and guess what...yesterday I could get this movie...:D I was so excited...!!!

"Dreams get you into the future and add excitement to the present"

Didnt even know that the lyrics in this movie are by my fav Gulzar & Singer none other than Jagjit Singh tears came into my eyes...with happiness never get everything that you ask...but sometimes when you are speechless!!!

I really loved this movie...I dont want to talk much about the people know the legend Shyam Benegal - his direction and his just marvellous!!!

"It's always the challenge of the future, this feeling of excitement, that drives me"

I always have this desire to travel to Pakistan...& meet the people there and know the history I have always heard this...that some didnt want to go to Pak and some didnt want to go to India...but all I see is people who did want to go to both places are suffering...!!!

“Your feet will bring you to where your heart is.”

We in this part of the big things about our roots...culture and tradition...but imagine a place where your roots lies and still you cannot reach them...either you are deported as a criminal or then you have to do some illegal things to be attached to your roots...!!!

“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.”

All I was thinking...imagine a 75 year old lady had to go through all this...just to be with her own people...I could feel the pain...a pain which is of not her fault....but still she is suffering...!!!
My aspiration of travelling to different parts of the living and burning day by day and Pakistan being one of the place where I would love to go and be among the people ...and write about them..!!!

“An aspiration is a joy for ever, a possession as solid as a landed estate”

When I came to a Urdu Poetry site...I thought I will be making friends from Pakistan and know a lot about the place...but I realize only rich can reach to the internet world but there a lot many who are still unreachable.....and thats why I want to go and meet those people...the rich heritage and culture that they still carry irrespective of the novel ways and jet era...!!!
I have a dream to fulfill...:)

"The most pitiful among men is he who turns his dreams into silver and gold."
~ Khalil Gibran

I thought to share a poem about our dreams.....:)

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!

Look to this Day!

For it is Life, the very Life of Life.

In its brief course lie all the

Verities and Realities of your Existence.

The Bliss of Growth,

The Glory of Action,

The Splendor of Beauty;

For Yesterday is but a Dream,

And To-morrow is only a Vision;

But To-day well lived makes Every

Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,

And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.

Look well therefore to this Day!

Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!
~ Kalidasa

Ya.Long before I watched Mammo.I did not get through your whole blog...but one example I have.

I have a grand father in Bangladesh(Rajshahi ciy).He left india during partition. Now his wife is dead.He(90) is childless and When he comes to india he does not want to return Rajshahi. Sometime he extends his visa period showing his bad health certificate. Even I proposed him to tear off the passport and stay in india. But he is so religius person that he does not want to do.

Somedays ago he mailed me from another persons ID.When he comes India if I m there in home he always searches me!

I think if we try to find his pain, we can feel. In bangladesh ,no one is there. But in india everything he is having....all blood relations.

Its a good pick!

I've had some clips of mammo on one channel and it aspired me alot to watch but after that i couldn't made it bcoz it isn't easily available on cd retailors and rent shops.

I love Zubaida, one of the stunning piece of cinematography by Shyam Bengal, he surely not a commercial flim maker.

Shyam Benegal is a legend. Too bad they dont make movies like those days. Mandi was good... Other movie - Chakra. But these directors like Shyam, Govind Nihalini and Kundan Shah had great actors like Nasser, Smita Patil, etc to back on ... Even the comedy movies made those days like Jaane bhi do yaaron had so much depth.
